Fall is Here Be sure to check your Cabin Filter

With colder weather ahead be sure your AC cabin filter isn't clogged.
(Not a bad idea to change the one at home also)

There's a pink puddle under my car

Found the culprit- water pump leaking Lexus SC 430

A lot of parts to remove to get to it. The entire front of the engine was in the way.

End of the day it looks like this- just need to install the plastic covers

BMW 1992 E36 Vanity Light Meltdown

Here is what you don't want to do to your car when you have a fuse that keeps blowing. This car has a 5 amp circuit and someone installed a 25 amp fuse. I'm guessing because it kept popping the fuse and no one wanted to figure out where the root of the problem was. Well It appears this vanity lamp socket had a short and it burnt the wires. Looks to me like it almost caught on fire! So Lesson learned, now instead of just finding the problem we now have major rewiring job to restore the effected circuits and make the windows work again.

Times they are a changing

The time has come for me to move on to the next chapter. I have opened up location #2 in Scotts Valley under the name Steve Smith's Bavarian Motors.
I am located in the back room of the Scotts Valley Chevron 6012 Scotts Valley drive at the Granite Creek exit #5 off Highway17 on the north end of town.
After 10 years of driving 2 hours each day to come fix your car I hope it can go the other way in the future and you will come see me at my new shop. My new phone number is (831) 438-2800 For all my Mt View customers over the past 30 years I thank you very much and really appreciate all the business you have brought for me and my family.

Mini Cooper S AC leak

This week I had the pleasure of replacing the leaking evaporator for the AC on this R53. There was quite a bit work involved to get to it. First picture is with everything out. I put down a fender cover to insure no spills onto the carpet. The second pic is how far I was able to reassemble before heading home.

Worn out wheel bearing

This car has 95000 miles on it. When driving 25-30 mph or more it had pretty obvious rumble or humming noise in the rear. After a quick diagnosis on the hoist, and using my heavy duty press, we verified the culprit. Look at the pitted bearing race on the right. It should be smooth like the one on the left.
